Rachel Towers currently resides in New York City. Rachel has been speaking, listening to, writing, and reading French for over 10 years, ever since she spent her sophomore year of high school abroad. From 2000 to 2001, she lived in La Roche-Sur-Yon, France, a small town about a half an hour’s drive south of Nantes (hometown of famous writer Jules Verne). She attended Lycee Jean de Lattre de Tassigny as a student in year seconde.

In the summer of 2006, Rachel graduated from New York University. She never stopped practicing and working with French, and remained in contact with her friends back in France on a regular basis. She returned to France in 2004 through NYU’s study abroad program, living in a small apartment in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. She remained there for a little over three months, once again taking classes in French and studying various aspects of French culture.

In 2010, an acquaintance asked her to assist with a legal case in Washington, D.C. that required a French translator. She instantly fell in love with the art of translation and interpretation, and has been freelancing and volunteering in the field ever since. In 2011, she returned to France once again to work as an intervenante de langue with the Éducation Nationale, teaching English to French children and studying at the University of Avignon in Provence.

Rachel has worked with a variety of documents in many fields, successfully translating them from English to French and French to English. She is also a Senior Translator with the esteemed current events site, Watching America, and has worked as a freelance interpreter for the Human Rights Foundation in New York City, translating video speeches from French into English, as well as assisting in subtitle placement. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys the outdoors, traveling, cooking, and is also a certified Yoga Alliance/Kripalu Yoga Instructor.
